Respects to all the women I’ve ever worked with, true honour.
So when you are a fitness professional you will handle women, however let it be women or men as a professional there are a number of rules that you need to take note of,doesn’t matter if she’s your gf, good friend , someone you’re very familiar with or even family member. When you are training them you are working and work is work.
So here are somethings I’d like emphasise and learnt throughout my years of training female clients;
1.consent is a very important aspect when training a client let it be female or male, so if you are about to touch or are about to make your client do something it is very important for you to ask the if they are ok with it.
2. Just because they are ok with you touching or showing them something doesn’t mean you can get super familiar, comfortable or take advantage of the situation. There a millions of ways to teach your client or spot your clients during workout which are very professional, you can either learn them from a professional or google them up.
3. Be empathetic , be sure to push them at the same time understand that they are human too.
4. You need to be very encouraging!
Male or female doesn’t matter.
5. Menses! Not all woman feel pain the same way, have same energy level, have same moods patterns/eating patterns and have same durability. So always check with them during their time of month and work according to that.
6.Privacy and respect , you most probably will have access to your clients number, weight, measurements etc etc so be careful with it.
7. Have an appropriate timing to contact them/text them and also appropriate messages to send them, maintain a professional barrier.
8. If your female or male client oversteps their boundaries, as a trainer you should explain certain boundaries.
9. Make sure you secure a comfortable space for them especially when you are in the gym, so they’ll feel more comfortable performing their exercise.
10. Respect them let it be male or female. To gain respect from your clients,the trainer has to respect the clients.
